Tutor’s Comments:
Erik is confident and bright in math. He is proficient with the above goals, and is working on multiplication and division.
David has shown progress and growth in the area of vocabulary and concept development. He struggles with punctuation and I work with him on revising run-on sentences and helping him to determine whether or not certain words require capitalization.
Accurately multiply and divide. Memorize to automaticity the multiplication table for numbers between 1 and 10.
David continues to work on understanding and accuracy in subtraction with regrouping, and multiplication with multi-digits. He is also working on problem solving, and determining the appropriate mathematical operation to be used.
Jeovana came into the program with good reading comprehension skills. In comparison, her reading comprehension skills are now very good. She is very interested in reading and listening to others read. She struggles with the structure of her sentences when writing, but has demonstrated growth and improvement in this area since she began the program.
Jeovana is very confident and bright in mathematics. She clearly has strong number sense and understanding of the relationships among numbers. She is strengthening her skills in multiplication, and moving forward with problem solving.
Rosa excels in her ability to identify the meanings of unknown/unfamiliar words, sentences, and paragraphs. She will continue to practice sentence structure and punctuation in her writing. Comments for progress reports
Jonathan has shown tremendous growth and aptitude in both goal areas. He is excited about reading and writing. He is very helpful in assisting his classmates with spelling.
Jonathan clearly has strong number sense. He enjoys math, and working with numbers seems to come easy to him. Jonathan understands the concepts of addition and subtraction very well. He needs the most work in accurately memorizing his addition facts.
Cesar has shown some growth in reading and writing, particularly with writing. With the tutor’s assistance, he is able to write complete sentences. He is also working significantly to decode in reading and blend sounds to spell.
When Cesar is focused, he is able to concentrate on the relationships between numbers. He is working on figuring out the concepts when a mathematical situation is presented. He is also working on addition of higher one-digit numbers, and memorizing the addition facts with smaller one-digit numbers.
Comments: Litzy enjoys and has progressed in her understanding and interpretation of antonyms and synonyms. I continue to work with her on spelling and capitalization in general. She has, however, demonstrated improvement and a better understanding of capitalization.

In addition, students are expected to complete the daily rotation of classes everyday. If continued absences become a pattern, the student will be asked to leave the program so that others may benefit in his/her place.

Late pick up policy: STAR closes promptly at 6:00 p. m. Repeated tardiness may result in cancellation of your child's enrollment in the program. Excessive tardiness is considered to be more than 3 times in the school year. Late Fee is $1.00 per minute after 6:00 p.m. STAR allows a ten-minute grace period. At 6:11 the late fee is $11.00, 6:12 the fee is $12.00 etc. You must pay the late fee upon arrival. Please pay the staff member(s) in cash only. PARENT RESPONSIBILITY
Your cooperation is needed in the following areas:
• Direct your child to come directly to the program on days enrolled
• Sign your child in and/or out every day by an authorized adult (your child will not be released otherwise)
• Call when your child is absent
• Go over the rules with your child
• If corrective actions are needed, such as suspension, please follow up at home with a discussion about the issue at hand. Be supportive. We are working together for the welfare and healthy development of your child’s social skills.
• Parents are their children’s first teacher and primary role models. Any parent who uses abusive language or behavior toward staff, other parents, or children risks registration cancellation.

Consequences
If a child chooses repeatedly to break the rules, a formal meeting with the parent will be set up. If the child breaks the rules after this meeting, a one-day suspension will follow. Any further infractions of the rules will result in cancellation of the child’s registration.
MORE SERIOUS BEHAVIOR & CONSEQUENCES
Biting, spitting, physical fights, leaving the group or campus, searing or blatant disrespect for children, parents, and staff are considered more serious offenses. A first time infraction shall result in a one-day suspension, and a second time infraction will result in the non-refundable cancellation of registration. Parents may be called to pick up their child immediately from the program if the child is out of control and will not follow instructions. Any behavior that endangers the children or staff will be cause for immediate cancellation of registration.
BATHROOM PROCEDURES
Children are taken to the bathroom on a regular basis or as needed. A staff member will
accompany each child to the bathroom. Restrooms are to be used for their intended purpose only. Restrooms are not an area for play!
IMPORTANT

STAR Educations
STAR Education ha crecido ampliamente en los últimos 21 años y está muy orgulloso de servir a miles de niños a través de California. STAR está ahora en 180 escuelas y 40 distritos.El alcance de nuestro programa educativo se ha expandido a Los Angeles, Oxnar,Sacramento y Los Banos con 3750 participantes.
A través del alcance del programa educativo, STAR provée programas académicos y extracurriculares en ecuelas de "Title 1" (familias de bajos ingresos) después del horario escolar a no costo para los estudiantes o sus familiares.
STAR está tambien celebrando un importante aniversario; Star ECO Station cumple sus 10 años
y el nuevo STAR ECO Station in Rocklin, CA. su primer año.
La programación de STAR Education toma varias formas : oportunidades de clases extracurriculares, Clases de GATE, clases de ciencia del medio ambiente, equipos en deportes, RockSTAR, tutoría, y un completo servicio de cuidado y clases extra-escolares despues de la escuela, para nombrar algunos.
STAR siempre apunta al servicio de las necesidades de las escuelas y su comunidad; y una parte integral de su propósito es asegurarse la participasión de todos los niños, sin importar su estado académico o status socioeconómico.
El último año STAR a proveído mas de $ 5 millones de becas para que aquellos estudiantes de bajos recursos tengan acceso a nuestras clases de alta calidad académica y emotivos programas artísticos.
Estas oportunidades exponen a los estudiantes con el arte, los compromete a divertidos proyectos académicos por via de la " Inteligencia Múltiple", y aumenta sus activiadades físicas y esto conlleva a un aumento en su compromiso y rendimiento escolar.

STAR Education has grown vastly over the past 21 years and is incredibly proud to serve thousands of children across California. STAR is now in 180 schools and 40 districts. Our Education Outreach Program spans Los Angeles, Oxnard and Los Banos, and has 3,750 participants! Through the Education Outreach Program, STAR provides academic and enrichment afterschool programming in Title 1 Schools at no cost to students or their families.STAR is also celebrating some very important birthdays: STAR ECO Station is 10 years old, and the new STAR ECOStation in Rocklin, CA just had its first birthday.STAR Education’s programming takes many forms: enrichment opportunities, GATE classes, environmental science classes, team sports, RockSTAR, tutoring, and full service after school care and enrichment, to name a few. STAR always aims to support the school’s children and community, and an integral part of this goal is ensuring the participation of all children, regardless of academic standing or socioeconomic status.Last year, STAR provided over $5 million in scholarships for high quality academic enhancement and exciting artistic programs for children of underserved communities in California. These opportunities expose students to the arts, involve them in fun academic projects via Multiple Intelligences, and heighten their physical activity – combining to enhance their engagement and performance during the school day.STAR Education is looking forward to another amazing year of success stories!

providing hands-on interactive programming for students since 1986.
The GATE Department has serviced over 42 districts in Southern
California, offering classes in Art and Humanities, Critical Thinking, and
Science to identified gifted students, students, and those students who
wish to rise to the challenge of a college-level, fast-paced, challenging
curriculum.

continually evolving selection of disciplines that have been developed

and students. We incorporate California State Standards in each of
our classes, providing materials, handouts, and lesson plans that can
extend the learning into the regular classroom.
