Edison STAR
MAY 5th – JUNE 10th

Welcome to the Edison STAR Nova (Enrichment) Program! STAR invites ALL students to enroll in STAR classes that are taught by experienced instructors who are specialists in their field.

HOW TO REGISTER
1. Completely fill out the registration and photo consent forms.
2. Attach your check (DO NOT SEND CASH), made payable to EDISON STAR. Make sure your child’s name is on the check.
3. Please return your completed forms and check to the STAR drop box in the main office.
4. NO PHONE CALLS will be made to let you know you are enrolled, unless classes are cancelled or full.
5. Students will NOT be allowed to attend any STAR classes without a completed registration form and payment submitted.

REGISTRATION FEE
A $10.00 fee is required for each student per session to cover insurance and registration costs. This fee is non-refundable and is not applicable toward the cost of the classes.

STAR classes
Class sizes are limited to 14 students unless otherwise stated.

GETTING TO YOUR STAR CLASSES
Kindergartners:
Kindergartners will be dropped off at the amphitheater after school dismissal by their kindergarten teachers on their designated STAR class day. There, they will check-in with the STAR Director and meet their STAR teacher who will then walk students to their STAR classrooms.

Grades 1-6
Students in grades 1st through 6th will be dropped off at the amphitheater after school dismissal on their designated STAR class day. There, they will check-in with the STAR Director and meet their STAR teacher who will then walk students to their STAR classrooms.

** PLEASE NOTE **
Homework Club
4th-6th grade STAR students who attend a 3:05 STAR class must go to the STAR Homework Club from 2:20 pm – 3:00 pm in the Art/Science classroom near the Library/Computer Lab. Students will be supervised and escorted to the Art/Science classroom by the STAR Director.

AFTER STAR CLASSES
Kindergartners:
The STAR Director will walk kindergarten students to the kinder play yard after their STAR class where parents will pick-up at the kindergarten gate on Vine unless they are in the EEELP Program.

Grades 1-6
STAR teachers will walk students to the amphitheater after their STAR class. From there, the STAR Director will escort students to the Kennilworth gate where parents will pick-up unless they are in the EEELP or ASES Programs.

There is a ten minute grace period for pick-up. If parents are more than ten minutes late, a $1.00 fee per minute after the grace period will be charged.

STAR STUDENTS WHO ATTEND AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAMS
Extended Education & Extended Learning Program (EEELP)/After-School Education and Safety (ASES)

Please indicate the days your child attends EEELP or ASES program on your registration forms. STAR students who attend EEELP or ASES will be dropped off at EEELP or ASES rooms by the STAR Director after their STAR class.

Make-up classes will be arranged at the earliest convenience if class needs to be cancelled for any reason. If make-up classes cannot be rescheduled, you will be credited for the next session.

If your child will be absent from STAR, please contact the STAR Director, Christine Tran (818) 818-482-9866 or edisonstar@starinc.org as soon as possible.

Refund Policy
1. No refunds of any kind will be given after the first week of attendance.
2. We reserve the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment. Should such an event occur your money will be credited.
3. Tuition will not be refunded if your child misses a class, quits, or is asked to leave due to disruptive behavior.
Scholarships are available based on need. Please inquire for more information.

IQ-GO! Science - Survivor Kids!
Imagine yourself stranded on a desert island, with only your wits to protect you. Discover how to react in life-or-death situations! Learn how to fend off a grizzly bear attack. Engineer your own tools, purify your own water, build a shelter, gather edible plants and find out the fundamentals of first aid. Save yourself, save the day and become the ultimate Survivor Kid!

STAR ECO Station – Animal Adventures
Get to know the awesome animals of the STAR ECO Station, our exotic wildlife rescue center! Boogie down with bodacious boas, crawl along with creepy critters, marvel at magnificent parrots and befriend all sorts of other ECO animals when they pay an exciting, educational visit to your class. Make toys for the animals to play with, collect ECO animal trading cards, and have the animal adventure of your life!

Soccer – Kick It!
Slap on some shin pads and get in the game! Get a great workout and find out the fundamentals of offense and defense. Increase your understanding of basic soccer moves such as passing, dribbling, shooting and goal keeping as you develop your appreciation of teamwork and sportsmanship. Show Mom and Dad who’s the new soccer boss at our last class, when we’ll host a “grown-ups vs. kids” showdown!

IQ-GO! Art –Modern Art Adventures
A paint brush, a canvas, and an open mind are all you’ll need on this journey of artistic discovery. View works by modern masters like Picasso, Kandinsky and Dali, and integrate elements of cubism, surrealism and abstraction into your artwork. Challenge aesthetic assumptions as you produce bold art projects to wow friends and family!

Woodworking - Knock On Wood
Get ready to work with wood and create, create, create! Once you’ve mastered how to sand wood, you’ll develop a familiarity with hammering nails in a safe and creative way. Make a cool off-road vehicle, a unique treasure box or a wall shelf. Build your own wooden masterpiece to show off at "Family Day", the last day of class when you’ll demonstrate the techniques you’ve learned while becoming a STAR Woodworker! Maximum 12 students.

ROCKSTAR MUSIC EDUCATION
Become a rock revolutionary! RockSTAR Music Education is the most popular after school Rock n’ Roll education program in LA. Professional rockers will teach you how to play guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards; compose your own songs, and perform classic Rock n’ Roll hits. RockSTAR harnesses the cognitive, social and creative benefits of music education in a program that’s for ANYONE, because no previous experience is required! Instruments will be provided.
Grades 1st - 6th only. Maximum 7 students.
